The January box is about personal care. It has several fun recipes, but I decided to make the DIY solid perfume recipe first.

Although there's a lot that goes into making a recipe for solid perfume, including fixatives and choosing essential oils that will complement each other and last, this is a quick and easy solid perfume DIY.

January 2022 Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box

The Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box is a subscription box for essential oils. It's a great way to learn about oils because you get four new oils a month. Simply Earth has a lot of information in their Facebook group, YouTube, and blog about using the oils each month.

Even if you've been using oils for a while, it's still great information. Plus you get to expand your oil collection each month at a fantastic price.

The price of the box is worth more than the oils, plus you get extras to make the DIYs. You can also swap oils for a small fee if you don't want duplicates.

What Essential Oils are Used for Perfume?

You can use most essential oils for perfume. Do not that some citrus oils can increase phototoxicity, so avoid wearing them if you will be in the sun.

I also caution against using hot oils like cinnamon or ginger. These can irritate your skin if you use them all over.

Other than that, you can use your favorite blend. I used Citrus Burst blend and Clary Sage for a fun, light scent.

You can also try one of these fun essential oil blends that smell like candy.

Which Wax is Best for Solid Perfume?

I like to use beeswax for a DIY solid perfume recipe. Beeswax creates a barrier on top of your skin that really helps trap the essential oils and hold them on top of your skin so the scent lasts longer.

For a vegan solid perfume recipe, you can also use soy wax or candelilla wax. Soy wax doesn't hold as much essential oil as beeswax, but it will still work.

Candelilla wax is denser than beeswax, so you may need to use less to make a DIY solid perfume recipe.

How Do You Make Solid Perfume Last Longer?

A solid perfume recipe with essential oils doesn't last as long as a spray, and essential oils evaporate more quickly than fragrance oils. Therefore, plan to reapply your natural solid perfume throughout the day.

One way to make your DIY solid perfume recipe last longer is to use a fixative. A fixative is made with natural butters for skin, beeswax, and oils. It also has a thicker base note that helps "hold" the scent and slows down evaporation.

Note that these fixatives do have a base note scent, and they will alter your final solid perfume recipe scent.

Wild Veil Perfume on Etsy has several different scents available, so you can find one to complement your natural perfume DIY.

Where to Apply Solid Perfume

It's best to apply a natural solid perfume on pulse points so your natural body heat will release the scent. You can apply it to your inner wrists, neck, or behind your ears.

How Do You Make Solid Perfume Sticks?

You can easily make this DIY solid perfume recipe as a perfume stick or solid perfume. Simply make it as directed and pour into a cardboard tube.

I like this method because it isn't as messy to apply.

How Do You Make Solid Perfume?

When you learn how to make solid perfume with beeswax, you'll be surprised at how easy it is! You will just need beeswax, a carrier oil, and essential oils.

I used almond oil to make my solid perfume recipe because it came in my Simply Earth bonus box. You can also use fractionated coconut oil, sunflower oil, or grapeseed oil.

These oils are all dry oils, so they soak into the skin quickly and won't leave your skin oily. However, you can use any liquid carrier oil that doesn't have a strong odor.
