Edit an invoice payment using the QuickBooks Online app? ›

From the Menu ☰, select Sales. Select the filter dropdown ▼ arrow and choose Invoice Payments. Select the payment you want to edit. Select Edit ✎, then make your changes.

In the Money in section, select Sales receipts or Invoice payments. Select the sales receipt or invoice payment that you want to edit. Select Edit ✎. Make changes, then select Save.

Go to Sales, then Invoices (Take me there) or Estimates. Select Create invoice or Create estimate to create a new form. Or to edit an existing form, select an invoice or estimate from the list and select View/Edit. To update your company info, select Edit company on the form.

Paid invoices

Once an invoice is marked paid, your only option is to Refund the invoice. You can't edit or void a paid invoice. If you choose to refund the invoice, the process is the same as crediting an invoice.

Generally speaking, you should never delete an invoice. In cases where you want to delete or amend an invoice, a credit note will usually suffice as the solution. A credit note allows you to effectively - and legally - cancel an invoice.

Void or delete a transaction

To keep your account balances and reports accurate, void or delete transactions that are made by mistake. Go to Sales, then select All sales (Take me there). Find the invoice that you want to void or delete. In the Action column, select the dropdown ▼, then select Void or Delete.

Go to Sales and select Invoices (Take me there). Scroll to the invoice you wish to edit and click on it to open it up. Make the necessary changes.

To edit a tax rate:

Go to Taxes, then select Sales tax (Take me there). Under the Related Tasks list on the right, select Add/edit tax rates and agencies. Choose the rate that you want to change, then select Edit. Enter the new rate.

Before you can edit or void an invoice that's been paid using a credit note, you must remove this transaction. Note: The date of the transaction is the date you allocated the invoice and credit note.
