Saleh Al-Otaibi this is very well written. I lookAfter global sales accounts for a company Intelligent project solutions which is head quartered in Vancouver. We use AI / ML to harness information from Engineering documents that are in the scanned format or PDFs. Many a time the Licensors hand over P&IDs in PDF format to EPCs and they need to extract MTOs from the PDFs, as you rightly said, the accuracy of the MTOs determines the accuracy of their project estimation. We have a product called as iMTO that uses our AI and image processing technology to extract the MTOs directly from the PDFs without the need to recreate the P&IDs in the destination CAD systems. Let me know if this would be of interest to you we can get into a one to one Teams meeting where I can explain the same.

Field Routed Small Bore PipingPiping of 2” size and below is regarded as appropriate for field run piping. Small-bore pipes, threaded and socket welded pipes can be field fabricated.Field-routed piping is a concept that saves design time. The idea is that small bore piping is easy enough for the fitters to route around the obstacles in the route when otherwise an inordinate amount of time would be spent in designing and dimensioning the routing. Piping of such small sizes is very flexible so pipe stresses would normally not be considered. Often 2” diameter piping is represented on the drawings as a single line and 3” and larger is shown as a double line. The split at 2” pipe is a good choice as it also designates a good split between field-routed piping and drawing dimensioned piping. It is generally not a good idea, but it is possible that an instruction is simply provided with the tie points and the entire route is left to the fitter. However, the selection of the pipe route needs to include consideration of neatness, economy, and safety. Therefore, most often, it is advantageous for the owner to outline the anticipated routing, and this is represented with a single line drawing which may also be required to show valves, equipment, or instrumentation locations. Furthermore, pipe routing should always be considered so that at fastening points, the structural steel and the pipe are nearly perpendicular. The routing will consider vibration, corrosion, and connections. The owner needs to ensure that piping systems are capable of withstanding the maximum pressure in the corresponding lines at the relevant temperatures. The owner shall verify the pipe sizing/ thickness calculation as per the B31 ping code and other criteria. Piping and fittings shall be designed to satisfy the owner’s requirements as a minimumInitial one-line piping drawings should be approved by the owner prior to beginning the installation of the field run pipe work. Based on these approved layouts the Fitter should prepare the initial BOQ of field run-pipes, U-bolts, etc., and submit it to the owner for approval.Supporting arrangements of piping systems should be properly designed for systems where pressure surges may arise in the system during operation. The fitter should provide necessary protective arrangements like small anchor points bolts etc. to safeguard the piping systems under these conditions. The requirements will be, worked out by the fitter and he will submit the detailed drawings for thrust/anchor points to the owner. External, and internal, attachments to piping shall be designed so as not to cause flattening of pipes and excessive localized bending stresses.#fieldrouting #smallbore #piping #drawings #route #fitter #owner #external #internal #system #designs #stresses #jobsite #anchor #ubolts #criteria #temperatures #pressure #crib #tiedown #fabricated

🌈The execution of piping spools fabrication involves several steps to ensure the accurate and efficient construction of the piping system. Here's a general overview of the fabrication process:1️⃣ Shop Drawing Review: Before fabrication begins, the shop drawings, which include detailed plans and specifications for the piping spools, are thoroughly reviewed. This step ensures that the design meets the project requirements and any necessary modifications or clarifications are addressed.2️⃣ Material Procurement: The required materials, such as pipes, fittings, valves, and flanges, are procured based on the specifications provided in the shop drawings. Material selection should consider factors such as fluid compatibility, pressure ratings, and corrosion resistance.3️⃣ Preparation of Piping Spools: The fabrication shop prepares the piping spools by cutting and preparing the pipes and fittings based on the shop drawings. This includes cutting the pipes to the required lengths and beveling the pipe ends for welding.4️⃣ Fit-Up and Assembly: The prepared pipes and fittings are assembled according to the shop drawings, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up. Tack welding or temporary clamping may be used to hold the components in place during the assembly process.5️⃣ Welding: Once the fit-up is complete, the spools are welded using appropriate welding techniques. Welding parameters, such as heat input and filler material selection, should be in accordance with qualified procedures and codes.6️⃣ Inspection and Quality Control: Throughout the fabrication process, inspections are conducted to verify the quality and integrity of the welds, dimensions, and overall workmanship. Non-destructive testing (NDT), such as visual inspection, radiography, or ultrasonic testing, may be performed to detect any welding defects or flaws.7️⃣ Cleaning and Surface Treatment: After welding, the spools are cleaned to remove weld slag, spatter, and any contaminants. Surface treatment, such as pickling or passivation, may be performed to enhance corrosion resistance, depending on the material and project requirements.8️⃣ Documentation and Traceability: Proper documentation of fabrication activities, including material certificates, weld maps, inspection reports, and welder qualifications, is maintained to ensure traceability and compliance with quality control standards.9️⃣ Preservation and Packaging: Once the fabrication is complete, the piping spools are protected from corrosion and damage during transportation and storage. This may involve applying protective coatings, covering the spools with a suitable wrapping material, and securing them for shipment to the construction site.🌈It is important to follow industry standards and codes, such as those provided by ASME, API, or specific project specifications, during the fabrication process. PIPING DESIGN – Piping Classes – 5Piping Class is a document that contains the definition of pipes and their related components to be used on a specific pressure or temperature condition. Normally prepared by the engineer, this document includes information like the material specification, schedule, and flange rating. Each pipe class will have been selected for its base material, corrosion requirements, temperature, pressure range, and other special requirements.Welded pipes are preferred when large-diameter pipes are needed, and seamless ones will work for projects that require small or medium pipes. Welded pipes are further classified into other types, each with its own advantage. As pipes come in different types, it is imperative that the specific class of pipe is defined for the project at handParts manufactured to standards not listed in the code, or not made-up to standards are not listed with the piping classes. These are known as unlisted or specialty items and they are listed in the specialty item list. These include such items as strainers and expansion joints. IPiping classes do not take into account out-of-specification items such as a Class 900 flat face flange to match a compressor flange in a Class 600 raised face piping system. Engineers will have to request that these out-of-specification items be added to the piping class materials database on a case-by-case basis. There must be an approval procedure for out-of-specification items to be incorporated into the piping class documents. A big problem for the piping engineer is loss of time due to the engineering manager’s outright refusal, to allow the addition of a component. Therefore, it is recommended that the piping engineer should approve all material requests; the piping engineer is to be the custodian of the piping classes and is the only person that can authorize changes and additions.Another important matter is to use the pipe schedule for any modeling. Do not prematurely use calculated wall thickness to save time because it will actually be lost time when the work needs to be redone per the pipe schedule. This means, before much design work is done it is important that the pipe schedule be “frozen.” Remember that the set-up of the classes will be for use by the material control group, the 3-D model, and the stress group. Changes may later happen to the piping classes during the project, but these changes must follow an approved deviation process.A sample of a piping class document is provided below.“The Planning Guide Piping Design,” Richard Beale, Paul Bowers and Peter Smith, 2010, Gulf Publishing Co.#pipingproject #owner #engineering #pipingclasses #code #model #standard #manufactured #types #outofspecifcation #rules #regulations #procedure #specifications #design #documents #pipingengineer #servicecommodity #applicablestandards #prematurely #modeliing #pipeschedule #3dmodel #flatface #raisedface

Greetings, Today, I want to shed light on the total material and fittings required for (#RTR) pipe systems. Understanding the components involved in RTR piping is crucial for successful project planning and execution. Let's explore the key elements that make up RTR pipe systems.🔹 RTR Pipe Material: RTR pipes are composed of a reinforced thermosetting resin matrix, which provides excellent resistance to corrosion, chemicals, and UV radiation. The specific resin used can vary based on project requirements, with popular choices including epoxy, vinyl ester, or polyester resins. These materials offer exceptional durability and longevity in various applications.🔹 Reinforcement: To enhance the structural integrity of RTR pipes, reinforcing materials are incorporated into the resin matrix. Common reinforcement options include continuous glass fibers, carbon fibers, or aramid fibers. The type and arrangement of the reinforcement contribute to the strength, stiffness, and pressure rating of the pipe.🔹 Pipe Fittings: RTR pipe systems require a range of fittings to ensure proper connections, transitions, and directional changes. Some essential fittings include:- Elbows: Used for changing the direction of the pipeline.- Tees: Enable branching off the main pipeline into multiple directions.- Reducers: Facilitate the transition between different pipe diameters.- Flanges: Provide a connection point for joining RTR pipes to other components, such as valves or equipment.- Couplings: Used for joining pipe sections together or repairing damaged areas.- End Caps: Seal off the ends of the pipe to prevent fluid leakage.🔹 Gaskets and Seals: In RTR piping systems, gaskets and seals play a critical role in ensuring leak-tight connections. These components, typically made of elastomeric materials like EPDM or Viton, create a secure seal between pipe segments or between pipes and fittings.🔹 Adhesives and Resins: Adhesives and resins with compatible properties are utilized for bonding RTR pipe joints and fittings. These materials ensure strong and durable connections, maintaining the integrity of the system.🔹 Support and Restraint Systems: RTR pipes require proper support and restraint to prevent excessive movement and maintain stability. This includes pipe supports, hangers, and anchors, designed to withstand the weight and thermal expansion of the piping system.Understanding the total material and fittings required for RTR pipe systems is essential for accurate project estimation, procurement, and installation. Collaborating with experienced engineers and suppliers ensures the selection of appropriate materials and fittings that align with project specifications and industry standards.Feel free to like, comment, and share your thoughts on RTR pipe material and fittings. Let's foster knowledge exchange and promote best practices within the industry.#RTRPipeSystems#PipeFittings#Materials#Reinforcement#Gaskets#SupportSystems
