As part of enterprise modernization and adoption of cloud technologies, access to enterprise applications and portals over the internet is moving to preferred Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). Microsoft Authenticator is the solution that provides authentication via the mobile phone app or Azure based SMS text.
Users will have to use MS Authenticator for MFA using UPN (User Principal Name in email format).

The users accessing internet available applications will have to enter UPN/password and use MS Authenticator mobile app.
Alternatively, a One-time Passcode can be sent through SMS to your preferred mobile telephone number.

1. How do I find the UPN (User Principal Name) ?
UPN is usually same as UHG/UHC or Optum email address. To confirm, please access the following URL on VPN UPN Portal (optum.com).
If the user does not have access to this portal on the network(intranet), they may need to check with someone from their respective business unit or contact UHG helpdesk. If you are a contractor, please ask your UHG or Optum manager to find this information or call helpdesk.
2. How do I install MS Authenticator? How do I set up MFA ?

Call helpdesk to request for help in setting yourself up with MS Authenticator MFA, or to update your Telephone number for SMS. If you are a contractor, please ask your UHG or Optum manager to find this information or call help desk. 3. How does MFA work if the user has not yet setup or is temporarily unable to use MS Authenticator app ? Is there an alternate option ?
OTP will be sent by SMS to the registered mobile phone number.
How to update the phone number if you do not see your mobile tel number ? call UHG helpdesk to request for updating the Telephone number with your mobile number.
