Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have generated income through book sales and brand partnerships, amassing a net worth of approximately £30 million. However, their wealth is overshadowed by that of Prince William and Kate Middleton, The Sun reports.
According to The Sun, the Prince of Wales is the richest member of the Royal Family with a net worth of approximately £1.05 billion, exceeding his father, King Charles III, valued at £900 million.
Prince William became a billionaire by assuming control of the Duchy of Cornwall estate from his father after the Queen's passing.
The estate, encompassing farmland, residences, commercial properties, forests, rivers, coastline, and a portion of Dartmoor National Park, contributed to his wealth.
Additionally, Prince William inherited £10 million from Princess Diana and £7 million from the Queen Mother.
Royal editor Ingrid Seward told The Sun, “as working members of the royal family William and Kate have all their official expenses paid for by the sovereign grant including clothes for foreign visits.”
The Sun reports that Harry and Meghan's wealth mainly stems from the Duke of Sussex's inheritance from his late mother, totaling £10 million by his 25th birthday.
After stepping back as senior working royals, they became financially independent.
They've also earned income from an ended £18 million Spotify deal and a Netflix contract.
Additionally, Prince Harry received a substantial sum for his memoir, "Spare."
However, they've faced significant expenses post-royalty, such as purchasing their £12 million mansion in Montecito, California.
Ingrid added, “their Californian house is mortgaged and their expenses, by the time they have taken into account the security which follows them everywhere, are huge.”
“They also have to pay American tax on both their incomes,” Ingrid continued. “When they broker a deal with networks or publishers, they are not paid the whole amount up front.”
Ingrid said, “They are not on the poverty line, but compared to the Prince and Princess of Wales they are paupers.”
