Just wondering who do I contact about the bracket that goes around my chimney that holds the Telephone cable from the main pole to my house??
Just I found a part of broken bracket on my drive this morning, luckily it missed the car.
Also who pays for the bracket? I'm guessing BT / Openreach ?
Thanks

Good question and at a guess I suspect BT own the bracket as they own right to the master socket. Who pays for it to be replaced… should be them but don’t quote me on this

OpenReach.
You would usually report this to your telecom service provider. But if you don't have an active service on the line then you need to report direct to OpenReach.

Thanks, any idea if they will charge or because I don't have a service with them or use there service will it be sorted at there cost??
Been reading a few posts where people informed there service provider and openreach passed the bill to them then the service provider passed it to the customer

If you don't use it, you could ask Openreach to totally remove the whole copper phone cable. This is free for them to do. I did this earlier in the year.
Then its just a case of wating until somekind of FTTP shows up in your area to get new cabling from the FTTP provider and with this you can tell them exactly how you want the cable to be run to your house.

Technicaly, you are not allowed to mess about with a Master Socket in your Property or anything backwards from the Master Socket, ie, Outside as it belongs to the Telecom Supplier (there are very old GPO and Government Bylaw(s) on this) so it is their responsibility to Maintain such Equipment or Incoming Cables.

I used to have a master socket but it was old and dirty and hanging off the wall so I disconnected it

Corrected the above for you.
You are not responsible for your Bracket scenario.

Do please keep us all updated on this, as I'm also curious to know how Openreach responds to such situations when the end-user isn't taking an active retail service on the same line.

Deep in the midsts of time a wayleave agreement would have been signed with the GPO which would have set out the agreement. I can't see that Openreach are going to push back in this if there is no other obvious evidence of (for example) building work that caused the damage to the overhead structure.
If the neighbour has an active service and their cable/service is also at risk you could also ask them to report the issue via their Communication Provider.
The other option is that storm Antoni comes along and finishes the job off properly with a disconnection today

Or Storm Steve could do a final pull and report it as a damaged cable...

Another thing could they blame it on the tree at the edge of my property thats next to their cable pole that the wire goes through the branches?
I'm guessing the tree has been there for a long time as it's twice the size or more of the pole and was like this when I moved in.
Every year the Electric company trim the trees around the overhead cables that come onto my land if needed, surely BT should do this as well when needed??

For urgent response as you don’t have a service my advice would be to contact via social media and stress it’s a safety issue . They are really good via these channels and will build a dummy job to visit and make safe.

Report it as a safety issue via the Openreach live chat on their website.
