This is the largest annual volume since 1978 (15.4m), the largest car total since 1979 (10.67m) and the highest ever truck annual sales volume. No doubt the truck figure is helped by a third consecutive year by the Ford F-Series in the overall pole position. The Chevrolet Cavalier overtakes the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme to become the most popular passenger car in the country this year with 383.752 units.
