This $300 Million London Mansion Is Now the World’s Most Expensive Home for Sale (2024)
London’s most expensive home is up for sale, according to Quartz. Set on four private acres in Regent Park, one of the city’s eight royal parks, the home’s reported asking price is about $300 million, or £250 million. If sold at this price, it would be the most lucrative real estate deal in the city’s history (the record is currently $252 million, or £210 million). It also represents the most expensive home currently on the market, beating out the $250 million penthouse currently for sale at the top of New York’s Central Park Tower.
The Holme, as the mansion is called, was designed by prominent 19th-century architect Decimus Burton in 1818. James Burton, a family member of Decimus and a notable Regency-era property developer, lived in the expansive estate. The two-story home is defined by an Ionic-style portico and offers a picturesque example of Regency-style architecture.

The mansion was previously owned by members of the Saudi royal family but was repossessed after a loan worth approximately $180 million expired. Receivers also seized other assets backing the loan, including a private plane and a New York City home. According to the Financial Times, the Holme is the most expensive asset among those backed against the debt, and its sale is seen as the quickest and easiest way to repay the loan. Agents at Knight Frank and Beauchamp Estates are reportedly handling the sale of the property.
