A person hoping to move to London has said they are worried they'll be 'too old to enjoy' the capital at the age of 28. The current 26-year-old said they have lived outside London for the last few years and were hoping to move to the city by the time they are 28.
But, the person seemed concerned that they are 'running a bit late on time'. Taking to Reddit, the post read: "What's the best age to live in London? I'm 26. I've lived outside London for the last few years hoping to push myself up to a salary that makes London liveable for me.
"But now I'm worried I'm getting a bit old to enjoy what London has to offer. I'll be 28 by the time I get the opportunity to move again. Am I running a bit late on time?" Londoners were quick to comment with their thoughts on the matter. One wrote: "I'm 34 and still enjoy London and go out all of the time."
The original poster replied: "You don't feel too old?", which then received a response of: "Too old for what? Do you not think people over 34 exist in London?" The 26-year-old went on to explain: "[I] just feel like most people who are moving to London are people between 22 and my age."
In reply, another wrote: "I’m in my early 40s been in London or nearby since my early 20s, personally enjoying it better than ever but that because our disposable income is higher than ever." A second Reddit user commented: "Honestly don’t worry about it, it’s not a thing, move to London whenever you want. Being close to your 30s doesn’t mean anything."
A third added: "London has a population of approx 9 million people - we are not all in our mid 20's (I am 42). You can live here and enjoy yourself when you are 22, you can live here and enjoy yourself if you are 62."
Meanwhile, another Reddit user said they 'felt pretty similar', adding: "I think at this age you get a stronger idea for what you actually enjoy doing, as opposed to what everyone else does. As a result, if the things you did when you were 21-25 are things you still enjoy today, then an arbitrary number like your age doesn't really come in to it."
One current Londoner recounted their experience of moving to the capital aged 35: "I'm 40. Moved to London from rural North East Scotland when I was 35. Absolutely love it, have made career strides I could never have dreamed of back home, and I'm out a lot. You're not even remotely too old."
