Is there a way to change my default screen wallpaper? I want to change it to something else from my photos, which would have worked in ios 15, but it is not letting me.

Hey harm011,
You should be able to change the default to one of your photos. Take a look at the link and steps below for changing to the wallpaper of your choice. This can be done both in Settings and from the Lock Screen.
Change the wallpaper on your iPhone - Apple Support
Add a new wallpaper for your Lock Screen or Home Screen
1. In the Settings app, tap Wallpaper.
2. Tap Add New Wallpaper.
3. Tap Photos, People, or Photo Shuffle to choose your own photo. You can also select a wallpaper from a category like Weather & Astronomy, Emoji, Collections, or Color.
4. If you want, you cancustomize your wallpaperfurther. Then tap Add.
