How Many Twitch Accounts Can You Have On One Email? | Streamers Playbook (2024)

So you want to have multiple Twitch accounts, but you don’t want to have a ton of different emails. What’s the solution then? Let’s discuss.

How Many Twitch Accounts Can You Have On The Same Email?

You can have as many Twitch accounts on the same email as you’d like as there isn’t a set limit to how many accounts you can link per email address. Twitch allows users to quickly and easily add multiple accounts to the same email address at any time.

It’s quite common today for Twitch users to have multiple Twitch accounts that they share with others or use different accounts for different things.

I’ll talk more about reasons for multiple accounts, as well as how to have multiple accounts on the same email below.

To begin, this is how you would go about adding multiple Twitch accounts to the same email.

How To Add Multiple Twitch Accounts Under The Same Email

To add multiple Twitch accounts to the same email, follow these steps:

  1. Click on your profile icon and go to settings.
  2. Now click on the “Security and Privacy” tab.
  3. Scroll to the “Contact” section and toggle on “Enable Additional Account Creation”.
  4. You can now create multiple accounts using the same email address by logging out and using the same email for the account that you enabled additional account creation in.

It’s important to note that you may have to toggle on the “Enable Additional Account Creation” for every account you use with the same email. If you are having issues using the same email for another account, this may be the reason why.

I go into more detail in my Youtube video here if you are in need of more assistance. Just don’t mind my grandma glasses in the video.

Why Create Multiple Accounts on Twitch?

Many users want multiple Twitch accounts so they can use them for different purposes. For example, Twitch users may have one account they use for streaming and another account they use for viewing other streams.

For me personally, I use one account for streaming, one account for viewing, one account for Youtube content (I don’t use that one a lot though) and one account to test different things on Twitch with.

I have my main Twitch account for streaming that I have my settings all dialed in and ready to go, but if I want to test something new on Twitch, it would be a real pain to have to change all my settings and then change them again in order to stream.

It makes life much easier for me to just use different accounts for different purposes. I think this becomes especially true when you have amassed a decent sized following.

There may be times you just want to watch a stream in peace without people messaging you on Twitch or recognizing who you are if you want to chat it up on the stream. It must be nice just to relax sometimes.

There are obviously so many more reasons why you might want to have multiple Twitch accounts, but those are some of the big ones.

Now if you feel like you got a little carried away with the account stuff, here is how you would remove a Twitch account from an email.

How To Remove Twitch Accounts From An Email

To remove a Twitch account from an email:

  1. Click on your profile icon and go to settings.
  2. Now click on the “Security and Privacy” tab.
  3. Go to the “Contact” section and click on the pencil icon located in the top right corner.
  4. Add and confirm the new email you would like associated with the account.
  5. Click the “save” button and Twitch will send you an email confirming your change.

Can You Share A Twitch Account?

Twitch does allow you to share certain aspects of your account with other people–with certain caveats. You can’t let other people log into your account using your password, but you can permit other Twitch users to stream their content using your account.

Account sharing is typically completely off-limits on most social media platforms, but not Twitch.

Although not in the usual sense, account sharing is quite common, especially amongst streamers in large, active communities who stream similar content together.

Twitch allows this kind of account sharing through hosting, giving permission to other users from your stream settings, and co-streaming.

Hosting and Host Mode

Host Mode is a feature where Twitch allows users to “host” other users’ live streams on their own channels. It essentially functions similarly to using an embedded video player from another website, although in this case, the content comes from the same website.

Keep in mind that you and the person you’re hosting won’t be able to stream simultaneously on the same account; only one live stream can take place at a time.

Twitch even has an auto-host feature in which you can select specific channels to host on your page while you’re offline. After three minutes of inactivity on your channel, a channel will be selected from your host list to broadcast. You can also override this by manually choosing a channel to broadcast.

For more info on auto-hosting, check out my Youtube video below.

Hosting is a great way to highlight another creator’s content and build a community together. You can form long-lasting relationships with other streamers and promote their content and have them promote yours in return by using the Host Mode feature.

Giving Permission to Other Users

Another way you can allow other users to stream from your channel is by simply giving them permission to do so from your settings.

To allow other users to stream content from your Twitch account, follow these steps:

  1. Click on you profile icon and then click on “Creator Dashboard”.
  2. Now on the left hand side click on “Settings” and then in the drop down menu click on “Stream”.
  3. Now scroll down to the “Permissions” section and click on “People Who Can Stream to Your Channel”.
  4. Type in the email address of the streamer you would like to invite to share your channel and click “Send Invite”.
  5. If they accept, they will now be able to stream on your Twitch channel.

My video below also shows you how to share a Twitch channel.

If you choose to let someone else stream on your account be VERY careful ! If they break Twitch’s Terms of Service while streaming on your account it could be GGs for your Twitch channel.

For this reason if you do choose to share a Twitch account, make sure that you both have similar interests and a similar vision for the stream.

For example, if one person is a family friendly streamer, and the other streamer has the mouth of a sailor, it doesn’t exactly mesh well together. Do you catch my drift? Choose your people wisely.

Co-Streaming and More

Another way Twitch allows users to share their accounts is through co-streaming. Co-streaming is quite similar to Host Mode in that it allows users to promote broadcasts on their own channel.

In this case, however, co-streaming is mainly intended for Twitch licensed content like conventions, gaming tournaments, TV shows, and more.

You can’t give away your password to another user and share your account in a literal sense. However, Twitch has several ways in which you can permit other users to share their channels’ content on your channel or vice versa.

These features are changing and evolving all the time to allow more interactivity and better communication on the platform.

Can You Have Multiple Twitch Affiliate/Partner Accounts?

You can have multiple Twitch Affiliate or Twitch Partner accounts as long as each accounts meets the criteria needed to reach Twitch Affiliate or Twitch Partner. This is not common, but it is allowed on Twitch.

Now you may be wondering why anybody would want multiple Affiliate or Partner accounts and I myself thought the same thing. But for streamers with bigger followings who do multiple things in live streaming it makes sense.

For example, if someone is a live streamer, but they are also an eSports commentator, they may want to use one channel for commentating on eSports and another one for doing their own personal streams.

This is just one example, but I am sure you could think of many more. But in most cases I would say it makes the most sense to have one channel and build your brand the best you can on that one channel rather than spreading yourself thin over multiple channels.
