How can you group and ungroup the object? ›

Select the group that has the object or objects that you want to separate from the others. On the Shape Format tab or the Picture Format tab, click Group, and then click Ungroup. , click Arrange to display it. Microsoft 365 dissolves the group, leaving the individual objects in their current location and selected.

Grouping is useful when you should rearrange or manage many components on the screen. Instead of having to drag multiple components, you can click once and select multiple items and move them at one time. Ungrouping is particularly important when editing imported images, such as maps.

There are several reasons why you may not be able to group objects in PowerPoint. First, you may have selected only one object. You need at least two objects for a group. Or, one of the objects could be a placeholder; you can't group placeholders with objects in PowerPoint.

What is grouped data and ungrouped data? Grouped data means the data (or information) given in the form of class intervals such as 0-20, 20-40 and so on. Ungrouped data is defined as the data given as individual points (i.e. values or numbers) such as 15, 63, 34, 20, 25, and so on.

Make sure none of the objects have the "In Line with Text" wrap setting before creating a group. If the Group option is grayed out, make sure you have more than one object selected & that none of the objects is a SVG, table, or worksheet.

If the Group option is grayed out in Google Slides, confirm that you have more than one item selected and that the items aren't already grouped. Also, keep in mind that all items must be on a single slide and you cannot currently group elements like videos, tables, and text boxes.
