All above is what AI says!!

Here is what I would like to add to the existing available knowledge from my outlook.

What does it take to find a job offer in Industrial companies in Germany & how is the work life?

Scrolling back to the days 3 years back, I had been advised by a few mentors to take up a Master's degree as the idle choice to gain an understanding of opportunities outside India. Undeniably, choosing to pursue a Master’s degree has allowed me to have a good start as an immigrant in Germany, to have a social network, and a good time to understand how life works in Germany.

January 2024 marks the completion of two years of starting my career in Germany. Thoughts pondering about my overall experience of work life in Germany, answers the question of what every skilled tech professional can expect when choosing to work in Germany. Indeed, Germany has been opening doors for non-EU citizens with better opportunities with the latest changes in immigration law and policy in 2023 and 2024.

Several people have asked me, how are the opportunities in Germany, and what is the eligibility to find jobs. In most English-speaking countries, the recruiting process has been based on quantifying your initial qualification with education, skillsets, and work experience. From my observation, the eligibility to find a job in Germany is not just based on a high-profile resume and work experience. To consider about location of the companies, unlike in India, more the 50% of the companies even big giants are located in smaller cities and towns in Germany. Most of the applicants are not informed about what it takes to pull out a living in such a location and commute to work.

Hence, for recruiters, it is more important to understand your straight and candid interest in applying for any position and your motivation to live in Germany.

It has been more important to earn the credibility of a recruiter than to create an impression.

Not just in the case of jobs, but also in the case of finding an apartment, the entire decision-making to choose a candidate has been based on earning the trust of the recruiting person.

In major cases, every recruitment process in Germany takes about 1-3 months and the employers invest time to identify someone who fits the team and business requirements rather than having a high-skilled person who would choose to leave for fair reasons. Hence, for most industrial and automotive companies, knowing the language and being able to show true motivation and openness to serve for an opportunity, is an integral part of offering a job to any candidate.

To share what I appreciate about working in Germany, the main aspect that feels extremely convincing to work for companies in Germany is the experience of being able the balance your work life and personal life with strictly no compromise. If you are a student, working for companies part-time while studying is completely doable. Working conditions are well-organized to let students choose the days and hours they can work in a week. This certainly supports every student to manage the initial period of finances while studying in Germany.

Further, you learn to be more precise and organized in planning your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. The fact, German employees have the habit of planning an entire year and keeping the team and organization informed about the possible availability and planning their work and vacations (this certainly excludes sick days). Having said that, efficiency and productivity are still not a cost in balancing work and life, but the best price earned out of lifestyle and practices.

Given the cultural differences as the major set of challenges for any non-German, the rest lies with your attitude and personal conviction as to why you would choose Germany as your destination for work and life. I'm still in my learning curve, cheers to the ones who are in my similar boat, and good luck to the future aspirants. Make sure you have the right key within you to enter and explore the opportunities this destination awaits to offer you. Otherwise, the challenges can be a bit overwhelming, when you are unprepared at making your decision.
